List of Things Inspiring me Now!
This last few weeks have been so incredible, I’ve signed up and tuned in to inspiration all around me! I’ve found some groovy places online and in my city that are really lighting me up. It is so funny because I’ve been reading The Vein of Gold by Julia Cameron for months and months, and I had scoffed at the weekly artist date as just another thing I would not strive to accomplish. Without much effort though this last few weeks I have been following my heart’s desire and it is taking me to new heights.
A few weeks ago I signed up for the Body Positive Clubhouse, and it has been incredible! I’m moving my body in ways I never thought possible, mingling with phenomenal women online and trying new meditations. I’ve set some goals and am building my confidence with each yoga pose I try. The Clubhouse features yoga that is accessible for everyone, so women of all different ages and body types are in the group. The lessons are taught by Amber Karnes, a sort of wonder woman that I really look up to. Here’s a link if you would like to check it out…Body Positive Yoga
My partner and I went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and it was a lot of fun! I get nervous in large groups of people, so I was full of anxiety but I also felt so alive. The food was great and our waitress was really cool. I also love the decor there, like full of every Texas stereotype imaginable from peanut shells all over the floor to the staff hooting and hollering. It was fun and I’m sure we will go again.
I’ve signed up for some art classes that Effy Wild offers, and am having so much fun playing with mixed media! She recently offered a sale for her 50th Birthday, so I snagged admittance to a portrait class, a class that brings together art making with your favorite music, and am revisiting a course I started last year about Ordinary Beauty and gratitude. I’ve already learned a lot and have been making a whole lot of art lately.
J and I went to the Pumpkin Patch today at DeMoss Farm and it was a blast! Just seeing all the different gourds, squashes and pumpkins of all colors and sizes was a feast for the eyes. We were there for about an hour because the place was packed, and wound up leaving with three big pumpkins, five mini pumpkins, a gourd, a bundle of dried corn, hay, etc. It’s a newish tradition for us to go to that particular farm and it was incredible to get into the spirit of fall.
I made a bunch of Halloween decorations for my home, now there are little fabric ghosts on doorknobs and I painted some skulls on river rocks to put in a little festive display. My twin sister made me some Halloween magnets and the place is starting to feel like home, with traditional decor to suit a holiday. I don’t get into decorating for holidays at all, but if there was one holiday I love above the rest it would be Halloween!
Dick Blick just shipped a box of media my way, so I have fresh paints and some stencils on order. I cannot wait to play with my new supplies!
What is inspiring you this season? I would truly love to know! Filling your artist well is as easy as following your heart sometimes, so just dive in and see what fun there is to be had!
