Art Table Feng Shui

Ok you guys, I have a total confession to make.  Lately I've been feeling like I totally suck at art!  If you look back over my portfolio it's obvious that I've come a really long way but in the day to day sometimes the inner critic takes over.  Lately I just feel like my visual art is dead, like my ideas are all wrong and that my art isn't going anywhere good.  So I just kinda gave up on it.

Today I discovered a feng shui practice, and the first thing I thought of was my art table.  I sit at this table a lot during my days, and if you look at the above photo it has been a less than inspiring place.  It collects clutter, with random books and shit just strewn about.  I love being surrounded by stuff, but when I listened to an audio today about some basic feng shui I realized that perhaps my space wasn't conducive to creativity.

So I cleared the clutter and put things away.  I'm currently working on another batch of art cards for Letters Against Depression, so I left the shoebox full of cards and materials for that project on my table within easy reach.  My oracle cards are in the upper left corner, because I love doing readings every so often.  And my favorite art supplies are now easy to get to.

I feel entirely renewed, and like I just want to grab my paints and get to it already!  When you take the time to claim a space for your creative work somehow it is like stating to your subconscious mind that it is important.  I can't wait to use my new art space!
