Growing as an Artist, Loving Every Moment
OK, lol, not exactly loving every moment of my life. It sux being sick. I wouldn’t say I’m sick, in fact not sick at all. I’m in very poor health. I have severe asthma, made worse by being allergic to nearly everything. My new cats aren’t helping, but I love cats so much that the joy they bring is worth more than the allergies. I had hoped I would have made some progress by now. Honestly, within the last few weeks I had a huge breakthrough with my asthma! I’m able to function slightly better than I was before. I’m getting some light work outs in, and trying to get active after being sedentary for a long while. I’ll get there sometime…where I’m meant to “be”.
I have signed up for an abundance of classes to keep me busy through the cold months. Here’s a short list.
BeLieve Art Journaling on Patreon has these great art therapy and neuro art classes, which are great! She also teaches endless techniques for gelli plates. If you need some relaxing art making, sign up for her patreon! It is only $5 right now. What a bargain, for over 300 art lessons! Lieve Ericx is an incredible artist! Her work is professional through and through. And her art always looks posh…how in the world she pulls that off, I’m not sure! LOL!
Make Create Express 2025 on the Art is Magic site, which has been a blast! I dip into the courses now and then when I feel like it. The class is year long and features tons of teachers in all different art styles. Super fun! I’m so glad I signed up earlier this year! It goes well into the first half of 2026, so there is still time to sign up. I have been following along Art is Magic’s offerings for the last so many years, but it took me a while to “take the plunge”. And I’m so glad I did.
A couple of classes on Jeanne Oliver’s network. I’m slowly beginning to love a more minimalist modern look for some of my experimentation. If you have seen Jeanne Oliver’s network of classes, you know they feature minimal neutral palettes in sophisticated styles. I signed up for a clay sculpture class and an upcoming class on altered magazine art! I’ve taken lots of classes there over the years, but I rarely finish them. So I’m excited to go back through and finish a few more classes this fall and winter.
Alisa Burke recently moved her classes to a new network. And I’m thrilled to be an ongoing student of her brand of art making! I’ve taken classes by Alisa for many years. Always inspired to see all her latest offerings too!
Hope you are learning and grooving it and doing it in your art practice! My life has been so rough this past couple of years. And my art is the one thing that has stayed constant and soothing throughout that time. Art is healing, art is soul nourishment. Gift yourself a new class to be inspired by and take time to nourish your spirit!
