Limiting Shopping
As an artist or seamstress, you might relate. In fact, any hobbyist would probably agree that supplies can get out of hand! I love art and sewing supplies….LOVE THEM! If there is a marker or watercolor paint out there, I’ve probably had it in my cart. LOL! Not really, but you get it. The supplies are nearly endless when you are a creative. There is always something else you need.
I signed up for tons of classes, then comes the list of supplies you need for each one. I’ve been trying to limit shopping. It has gotten so bad that I’ve asked for a reduction to my weekly budget. I’ve been trying to declutter and it is dang near impossible when you have endless stuff coming in. I feel blessed! If I absolutely need something I can get it.
Trying to downsize your belongings is actually impossible when you still have stuff coming in all the time. I bought a set of gelli plates, paper and all the extras for $55. Now that I’ve got it home, I was trying to figure out how to store it, and I started imagining having to make room on my art table to get out the supplies to use them for a series of classes I’m taking. Suddenly, my head hurt, hahaha! I was like…nope. I’m getting a refund on this set of gelli plates! It’s not as much the money, although the money is part of it. It is more the principle that I’m trying to declutter, not bring in more junk!
I will let you know when I get some of my sewing supplies listed on Etsy. Part of my decluttering is parting with a few things I no longer love and need. You don’t have to read Marie Kondo’s book to know that you have shit you don’t need or love. At least, the last thing I need is another book. I’m being choosy about books, clothes, and everything else. I’m sick of wasting precious resources on shit I don’t need.
