I signed up to be part of Elizabeth Foley’s group, “Finding Wings” on Patreon. Her art show raises awareness about domestic abuse and features lots of women’s work. She teaches intentional creativity courses about self-love and body acceptance.
I thought I had done the work of accepting my body. I even created a coloring book of funny pages all about it! I used to be great at accepting my body, whether I was overweight or just didn’t appreciate the way clothes fit or whatever it was! Now that I am sick and have gained a bunch of weight, I’m back to square one at accepting myself. The thing is, when your body fails you, it can be so hard to blame God and distance yourself from your body. I have been a walking head without a body for ages now. Even though I do yoga sometimes, I still feel like there is something missing in the way I communicate with my body, which needs healing and self-care.
